WNCT is always in need of volunteer car and mini-bus drivers and escorts. Many people find that they are unable to use public transport or other transport appropriate to their needs.
Community car drivers provide important links into well being services including health related appointments, visiting friends and shopping. Without the service that car schemes provide many people would find themselves housebound and isolated. As a volunteer you can choose how much time to commit and whether to take on occasional or regular trips.
WNCT also uses volunteer car drivers to transport social services service users typically elderly people into day services or children in care into contact visits, volunteer car drivers can claim a mileage rate.
We can also provide ‘well-being’ transport, using our volunteer drivers to take people to health appointments and other destinations of their choice. Passengers can either make a payment direct to the driver or they can be sent an invoice. It is currently 45p per mile.
All volunteers will have had an enhanced criminal record check before driving for us. For an informal chat about how you can help please contact us.
WNCT is managed by a committee of trustees and representatives from our funding partners.
Trustees give their time voluntarily and if you are interested in transport in the community, could spare an evening every other month and would consider becoming a trustee please contact us.
